“The

chemical composition of the essential oil obtained from the flowers of Otanthus maritimus L., a perennial plant growing wild in maritime sands in the Mediterranean region, was investigated by GC and GC-MS analyses. Totally 66 were identified. The oil was dominated by the high content of monoterpene compounds, especially oxygenated monoterpenes which accounted for 73.1%. The most abundant components were yomogi alcohol (20.8%), camphor (15.8%), artemisyl acetate (15.3%) and artemisia alcohol (13.7%). The oil was tested against two Gram (+) and six Gram (-) bacterial strains, both American Type Culture Collection standard strains and clinically isolated (CI), one potentially pathogenic yeast (Candida albicans CI) and two filamentous phytopathogenic fungi (Botrytis cinerea and Rhizoctonia solani). The results show that the oil from

O. maritimus exerts Z-DEVD-FMK inhibitor strong antibacterial and antifungal activities.”
“This analytical electron microscopy study was performed to understand better the microstructure of CoCrPt: SiO(2) media. The topology of the find more magnetic Co alloy grains and the distribution of the elements in the thin films were of special interest. High angle annular dark field images revealed that many grains in the range 5-8 nm have a cavity in their center, observed by low mass-thickness contrast. Electron energy loss spectroscopy Co elemental mapping shows Co to be concentrated mainly in the grains with a depleted region in the center. Si, O, and Cr appear to strongly segregate to the grain boundaries and somewhat to A-1155463 cost the cavities. In this paper we discuss the possible grain growth mechanisms and the effect of the presence of such cavities on recording properties. (c) 2009 American Institute of Physics. “Purpose of the Research: During the past decade, research regarding cancer patients has become more prevalent, however research regarding the needs of their family caregivers is limited. The purpose of this study was to explore the ways in which caregivers, who survive the loss of their spouse to cancer, find balance in their lives.

Methods

and Sample: A constructivist grounded theory approach was undertaken which included the analysis of in depth interviews, journal entries and the researcher’s field notes and memos. Interviews were conducted with 10 bereaved caregivers (7- females, 3-males) ranging in age from 66 to 83 years old. The data included 21 interviews and 8 journals.

Key Results: For bereaved caregivers “”walking a fine line”" emerged as a major process, balancing between “”deep grieving”" and “”moving forward”" in order to successfully create a new life without their partner. The main concern of the participants was “”losing control”" of balance. The emergence of these processes reveals the importance of addressing the bereaved caregivers’ need to find balance within their new lives.
